Setting up Canteen on your POS

Installing

  • Step 1: Click "Add Tile"

  • Step 2: Click on "App"

  • Step 3: Locate "Canteen - Deposits and Fees"

  • Step 4: Add "Automatically Calculate Fees"

  • Step 5: That's it! Nothing else to do! Seriously. You should now see an App Tile in your POS. When you see it, it will say "Inactive", as soon as you start to add products to your cart it will turn to "Active". "Active" means that the tile will continue to monitor changes to the cart and apply any applicable fees automatically for you.

Troubleshooting

  • My tile says “Inactive”, why? “Inactive” means there is nothing in the cart to monitor. As soon as you add a product to the cart, it will start monitoring and applying fees automatically.

  • Fees aren’t applying properly, why? In rare cases, you might be adding products faster than the fees are being calculated. This can occasionally occur when you add a new product that isn’t already in the cart. If this happens, simply tap the “Canteen Deposits & Fees” app tile — this will manually recalculate and apply the fees for you. See video below for reference.

  • How does the POS tile work? Once the Canteen tile is loaded into your POS, it automatically generates fees whenever the rules match the products in your cart — no action needed on your part. If you ever need to force a recalculation (for example, after quickly adding several items), just tap the tile and it will recalculate immediately.
